Is Your Data Safe?
By: Dan O’Donnell
Security and Risk Management is top of mind in the IT industry. Do you want to know why? The proliferation of hack attacks and misappropriation of confidential data is costing companies Billions of dollars each year. Therefore, many of the hottest new start- up companies and industry innovators are developing smarter devices to help companies protect their data and their networks while still transacting business over the Internet. You might ask, where can I find these companies and learn about their new products and services.
The hottest ticket in Las Vegas next month will be an exhibitor pass to Interop. It is not a stage show. It is the premier IT convention with over 350 of the leading technology vendors and industry visionaries coming together at the Mandalay Bay.
Among the topics being explored are Information Security and Risk Management, Cloud Computing, Video and the Future of Work. Network Critical will be there showing how you can achieve rock solid data protection and not sacrifice network reliability in the process. There will be some interesting give aways as well. (More on that later.)
Turn on the evening news and you will often hear about a major corporate data center being hacked and losing hundreds of thousands of credit card numbers, email addresses or social security numbers. Stealing this information and using it for profit is big business. Preventing it, therefore, is also big business. One business is legal and one is not. (Network Critical is on the legal side.)
More confidential information is being stored in the “cloud.” Indeed, the current trend toward cloud computing increases the likely hood that your social security number and other important personal information reside in an electronic storage device that is connected to the internet and physically located in India, China or Russia. That is a pretty scary thought.
Now I offer some good news. Many of the companies who will be exhibiting at Interop Las Vegas will be introducing new, specialized appliances that offer strong security for corporate data files and networks. These are products that block malware, extinguish hacking attacks, protect databases and restrict access to private information. All these specialized appliances need access to network data to do their job. That is where Network Critical comes in.
It is critical that information and networks be secure. However, that security cannot be at the expense of reliable access for the legitimate user. The Network Critical family of SmartNA Taps provides fail-safe, risk-free access to a variety of specialized appliances that provide strong security against attacks while allowing reliable access to those authorized users who work with the data.
You can visit Network Critical in booth 2171 at Interop Las Vegas to learn more about securing your network while maintaining reliable access. While you are there, ask for your free Internet Intelligence Card so you can amaze and bedazzle your friends and coworkers over a cocktail or soda.
